In a thrilling display of determination, Paul Magnier of Soudal-QuickStep has once again proven his mettle by clinching a narrow victory on the first stage of the CRO Race. Coming into this highly anticipated competition, expectations were high, and Magnier didn't disappoint. He edged out Danny van Poppel from Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, demonstrating remarkable speed and strategic prowess as he sprinted to the finish line in Sinj, just ahead of the pack.
As the race approached its final moments, the Polti VisitMalta team took the lead as they rounded the last bend with only 250 meters remaining. Among the frontrunners were not just Magnier and Van Poppel, but also Ben Turner from Ineos Grenadiers, all poised to make their move. However, once Magnier surged to the front, his acceleration left no room for competitors to overtake him.
Van Poppel finished just half a bike length behind, securing a respectable second place. Following closely in third was Oded Kogut from Israel-Premier Tech, while Giovanni Lonardi from Polti VisitMalta crossed the line fourth after getting caught slightly off-balance during the lead-out. Turner rounded out the top five with a strong performance.
